Kicking Off the New Year

As we begin 2018, we want to share some of the new aspects of M-WERC activities with you in this newsletter. First, we kicked off the new year with our first event of the year, a special event on Grid Modernization. This is a hot issue in the electric industry, and a topic getting more attention in Wisconsin, being led in part by PSCW Chairperson Ellen Nowak, who was our keynote speaker last week at our event in Madison, WI. See more on the event in the first article below, including links for you to download the presentations from the event including video of Chairperson Nowak’s presentation and the first session, which provides and a technology overview of Grid Modernization.

We chose Madison for our event last week to also coordinate with our announcement related to the opening of our Madison office recently see that article farther below to learn about plans for our Madison office and our regional expansion plans. Our Madison office opening is part of a larger partnership with the Grainger Institute for Engineering at UW-Madison, and will facilitate the growth of our new Technology Innovation research program, but will also allow us to expand M-WERC presence and activities in Madison, the western half of Wisconsin, and into Minnesota and Iowa. Click here to view the media release that we issued last week.

We will be reaching out to all of our members and partners in the first quarter – asking you to tell us how we can be more effective and maximize the benefits you receive from being a participant in M-WERC activities. Look for an invite to meet with us and provide input in the next few weeks – the main intent will be to give you a chance to tell us what you think and for us to listen to you.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you in 2018!
